A letter from the Chairman's desk, by Ian Kilbride.

2025 was all about risk and reward

Dear readers,

Every year has its defining features, good and bad. For me, 2025 global financial markets have been characterised by risk and reward.

It is difficult to remember a more turbulent and risk-laden global environment in recent times. Financial markets globally have a phobia against uncertainty, and the so-called Trump Tariffs unsettled markets and economies across the world.

The Russia-Ukraine war has proved insoluble and conflict in the Middle East exploded with pre-emptive strikes on nuclear enrichment sites in Iran. Indeed, at times, the world felt as if we were on the precipice of something much more serious.

At home, the Government of National Unity was severely strained by a bungled national budget process that took three attempts to get right. Despite our successful hosting of the G20 Summit in November, South Africa’s relations with the US continue to plummet with no light on the horizon.

So, with all this unwelcome news, where’s the reward? The reward lies with investors who remained in the market and rode out all the turbulence and uncertainty. And I am delighted to report that this was very much the case with our Warwick Wealth clients who stayed the course and whose investments have shown solid returns over the course of the year. Warwick Wealth MD Marc Wiese details some of this performance in his piece for this month’s Wealth Matters.

But it is not just the rewards derived from our clients remaining invested that animates Warwick Wealth, each year, we are committed to adding value to you by enhancing our services, crafting new bespoke funds, streamlining cost efficiencies, writing highly informative newsletters and delivering what we believe to be some of the best client care in the world.

Our objective in 2025 was not only to meet our clients’ expectations, but to exceed them and I sincerely hope we have done that.

For 2026, we promise even more enhancements and improvements across the board for our clients, and I know that the Warwick team is really looking forward to introducing these to you shortly.

But until then, all that remains for me to do is to thank you for your support throughout 2025 and to wish you and yours a safe, happy and blessed festive season.

Sincerely,

Ian Kilbride, Chairman and CEO
